Man killed in videoke microphone dispute in Negros

BACOLOD CITY — A 40-year-old man was fatally stabbed after a dispute over a videoke microphone in Sitio Mantuhod, Barangay Cabacungan, La Castellana, Negros Occidental, on Sept. 6.
Police identified the victim only by the alias “Donie.”
An initial investigation showed that Donie appeared intoxicated as he walked along an alley.
Police said the 20-year-old suspect, identified only as “Jovel,” followed the victim.
The suspect allegedly stabbed Donie several times with a bladed weapon, striking different parts of his body.
Donie was taken to a hospital but was declared dead.
Police Maj. Romulo Gepilango V, chief of the La Castellana Municipal Police Station, said the suspect and the victim had argued over the use of a microphone during a videoke session.
The suspect fled after the attack but was arrested during a hot-pursuit operation.
Police were preparing a murder complaint against the suspect and searching for the weapon allegedly used in the attack.
