Man killed in road mishap involving cop

BACOLOD City – A man died after he was hit by a car driven by a policeman at Barangay Awaan, Ayungon, Negros Oriental last Tuesday.
Police identified the fatality as Haide Jumuad of the said village.
Based on police investigation, Captain Rexel Yosores, 40, of Tayasan town was on his way to Dumaguete City on board his car when the victim allegedly suddenly crossed the road.
Lieutenant Colonel Kym Lopez, spokesperson of Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (Norppo), said the victim was reportedly drunk. He was taken to Bindoy District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Yosores, who is assigned to Police Station 9 in Cebu City, surrendered to the police.
Lopez said he has yet to know if there’s a settlement between the victim’s family and Yosores.
