Man killed in Pilar steel pipe attack

PILAR, Capiz — A man died after he was hit with a steel pipe by his brother-in-law while lying down inside his house Monday evening, July 6, in Barangay Casanayan, Pilar, Capiz.
Pilar police identified the victim as Renato Ayson, 38, of Barangay Victoria Reyes, Dasmariñas City, Cavite, who was temporarily staying in the area.
The suspect was identified as Ian Barrios, 35, also of Barangay Casanayan.
The Pilar Municipal Police Station said it received a report that a man was found unconscious inside the house, with blood oozing from his head.
With the help of local residents, the victim was brought to Bailan District Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Police said a minor saw a man enter the victim’s house before the incident.
Police later conducted a hot pursuit operation and arrested Barrios.
The suspect was positively identified by the minor witness as the man who came out of the victim’s house after the incident.
Barrios is under the custody of the Pilar police for proper investigation and disposition.
