ROXAS CITY, Capiz A 30-year-old man was killed by his own handgun when it accidentally went off during a road accident afternoon of May 7, 2019 at Sitio Esperanza, Barangay Binuntucan in Pontevedra, Capiz.
Police identified the victim as Prudencio Baes Jr. of Barangay Yating, Pilar town.
Based on the investigation by the Pontevedra Municipal Police, Baes was driving a motorcycle towards Pres. Roxas town when he accidentally crashed into the tricycle of Yolando Francisco Jr., 39, of Barangay Binuntucan, Pontevedra.
At that time, Baes was carrying a caliber .38 handgun tucked in his waist. The firearm went off during the road crash, and the bullet pierced Baes leg.
The victim was rushed to Bailan District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Baes gun is now in the custody of the Pontevedra police station.
