A teenage boy remains at large after he allegedly stabbed two brothers evening of August 5 in Dumangas, Iloilo.
Bernard Tapang, a resident of NHA People’s Village, Barangay PD Monfort North, Dumangas, spent his 19th birthday on Sunday by eluding authorities.
Tapang was accused of stabbing Salvador Dorador, 31, and his brother, 27-year-old Christian Dorador, both are also residents of People’s Village.
According to reports, the Dorador brothers were on a drinking spree in front of their house just a few meters from the roadside when a tricycle passed by around 11:20 p.m. Saturday.
The tricycle was driven by a certain Gerald Denuevo with Tapang and several of his friends as his passengers.
Tapang was allegedly drunk for his pre-birthday celebration.
One of Tapang’s friends claimed the suspect got irked after the two brothers shouted at them while they passed on the way to another friend’s house.
When the tricycle inched around 30 meters from the Doradors, the suspect alighted from the vehicle and went in their direction.
Police Staff Sergeant Terence John Soria, Dumangas police investigator, said Tapang first attacked Christian, who sustained two stab injuries. He then turned his ire on Salvador and stabbed him six times before fleeing on foot.
The two victims were rushed to Ramon Duremdes District Hospital in Dumangas town but Salvador was pronounced dead on arrival.
Soria said Christian is already in stable condition.
Police initially tagged Denuevo as a suspect but spared him after investigation indicated that he was unaware of the suspect’s plan.
Soria said the suspect’s family claimed they have no knowledge of Tapang’s location.
