Man killed as motorcycle collides into car

BACOLOD City – A man died after his motorcycle collided with a car and went ablaze in Barangay Punta Mesa, Manapla, Negros Occidental last Monday.
Killed in the accident was Christopher Montebano, 33, of Victorias City.
Police Major Jaynick Bermudez, town police chief, said that Montebano reportedly overtook a vehicle and encroached the lane of a Hyundai Starex that caused the head-on collision.
Bermudez said the victim’s driven motorcycle then sparked and got burned due to the impact.
The victim suffered serious injuries from the accident and minor burns, according to Bermudez.
He was declared dead in a hospital, the police chief said.
Bermudez said that both parties had an initial settlement. Thus, the car driver will be released from police custody after the lapse of the 18-hour reglementary detention.
