BACOLOD City – A man died after his carabao-driven cart was hit by a truck at Hacienda Bibiana, Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
Police identified the victim as Ceasar Jaena, 42, of the said village.
Executive Master Sergeant Joemarie Lachica, investigator of Silay City Police Station, said a truck driven by a 39-year-old man was tailing the victim when the former crashed into the latter.
“Medyo dulom pa kay kaagahon, ang karo indi makita pero pareho sila kaladtuan tani sa obrahan,” Lachica said.
The victim suffered head injuries and was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Lachica said that it’s possible that the victim hit his head on the cart, which is made of steel, before falling to the ground.
The carabao was unharmed when the cart fell into a canal.
Lachica said that both parties have reached a settlement. The truck driver was released from detention after the lapse of his reglementary detention, he added.
