BACOLOD City – A man died after he was hit by a Ceres Liner bus and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) while crossing the street at Purok 3, Barangay Palaka, Valladolid, Negros Occidental last Saturday.
The victim was identified as Andres Jordas, 34, of Barangay Poblacion.
According to the police, Jordas was usually seen loitering in the area.
Jordas was first thrown into the opposite lane when he was hit by a bus. An SUV that was tailing the bus overtook the latter vehicle and hit the victim again.
The victim was rushed to Valladolid District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police Major Wilfredo Benoman Jr., Valladolid town police chief, said the bus and SUV drivers are still under police custody, pending the settlement with the victim’s family.
Benoman said that both parties are scheduled to meet on Monday, Dec. 19.
