Man injured, seven houses damaged in Bacolod fire

BACOLOD CITY – A young man sustained injuries, and seven houses were damaged in a fire that broke out at Purok Kasilingan, Barangay Tangub, on Wednesday.

Fire Officer 2 (FO2) Rolin Paulan, chief arson investigator of the Bacolod City Fire Station, reported that they received the fire call at around 10:05 a.m.

According to Paulan, the fire originated from a bedroom on the ground floor of a two-story house owned by Edna Sarmiento.

Fortunately, no one was inside the house when the fire occurred, which affected nine families. The blaze completely destroyed four houses and partially damaged three others.

A 23-year-old man suffered minor burns on his left arm, though it is still unclear how he was injured.

Paulan suggested that the man may have been assisting other residents in their initial efforts to control the fire.

The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical ignition, possibly due to an item left plugged in by the house occupants.

The affected houses were constructed from a mix of concrete and light materials.

Firefighters declared the fire out at 10:37 a.m. The blaze caused an estimated P768,810 in damages, Paulan said.
