A 41-year-old man was arrested morning of July 6, 2021 at the Pototan Public Market in Magbanua Street, Pototan, Iloilo
Arnold Cartera, a resident of Barangay Yugot, Mina, Iloilo, was nabbed for a rape case.
Members of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office-Provincial Intelligence Unit (IPPO-PIU), together with personnel from Mina, Anilao, and Pototan police stations and the Maritime Police, collared the suspect by virtue of an arrest warrant for rape by carnal knowledge under Art. 266-A of the Revised Penal Code as amended by Republic Act 8353 (The Anti-Rape Law of 1997).
Judge Vicente Go of the Iloilo Regional Trial Court Branch 68, PD Monfort North, Dumangas, Iloilo issued the arrest warrant and recommended no bail for Cartera’s temporary liberty.
Relatedly, three wanted persons were arrested in separate occasions for charges of violation of Republic Act 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act).
Members of Oton Police Station collared the two co-accused evening of July 5.
Alvin Relosa y Salonga, 29, a factory worker residing at Barangay Abilay Norte, Oton, was arrested 8:20 p.m. of July 5.
After more than an hour, police also captured 26-year-old Khid Phillip Chavez at his home at Barangay Pal-agon, Sta. Barbara, Iloilo evening of July 5.
Both are facing three counts of RA 7610 violation docketed as Criminal Case Numbers 21-86329, 21-86330, and 21-86331.
Judge Regina Galang-Guarin of RTC-6 Branch 30 in Iloilo City issued the arrest warrant on June 10, 2021.
Bailbond for their provisional liberty was fixed at P80,000 for each count.
Meanwhile, members of San Joaquin Police Station arrested Toribio Sardonido Jr., 37, a resident of Barangay Pitogo, San Joaquin.
Sardonido was collared around 1:30 p.m. of Monday at Barangay Tiolas, San Joaquin by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Irene Banzuela-Didulo of RTC Branch 67 in Guimbal, Iloilo on April 14, 2021.
A P200,000 bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.
