A 27-year-old man was stabbed near a community dance hall on the eve of March 23 in Lambunao, Iloilo.
Richard Sequito, from Barangay Misi, sustained a stomach wound and received medical attention at Dr. Ricardo Ladrido Memorial Hospital.
The incident occurred during Barangay Pughanan’s fiesta celebrations.
Demar Jun Ajeno, a 22-year-old construction worker and the alleged assailant from Pughanan, reportedly reprimanded Sequito for bothering the sibling of a Sangguniang Kabataan official at the dance hall.
Their altercation escalated quickly.
After Ajeno stepped out of the hall, Sequito followed and assaulted him, which led Ajeno to allegedly stab the latter.
The Lambunao Municipal Police Station officers arrested Ajeno and confiscated his 10-inch knife.
