A farmer allegedly hacked his aunt while the latter was sleeping in her home at Pototan, Iloilo evening of August 2.
Police said the suspect, Elmer Libanan, 43, was drunk when he allegedly attacked his 66-year-old aunt, Gloria Cercado.
Major Roy Tayona, Pototan police chief, said Cercado is living near the suspect’s house.
Reports indicated that Libanan was already holding his bolo when he entered his aunt’s room.
He hacked Cercado on the left portion of her face.
Relatives rushed the victim to Don Jose Montfort Medical Center Extension Hospital in Barotac Nuevo town for treatment.
Tayona said Cercado is in stable condition as her hack wound was only minor.
Libanan was subsequently subdued by his younger brother and turned over to authorities.
Tayona said the suspect offered no justification for what happened except that he was drunk.
Libanan is now detained pending proper disposition of his case.
