TAPAZ, Capiz – A 62-year-old farmer was hacked to death by his nephew Tuesday evening at Barangay San Nicholas, Tapaz, Capiz.
Police identified the victim as Esmundo Gapi of the said place.
Tapaz Municipal Police Station investigator, Senior Master Sergeant Rocer Garde, said the incident stemmed from a simple misunderstanding between Gapi and the suspect identified as Joey Melicado, 35, also of San Nicholas.
Melicado got angry at the victim after the latter lent his battery and charger to someone else without first consulting him.
Gapi tried to hack Melicado but the latter managed to strike first.
The victim suffered fatal wounds on his head, back, hand, and abdomen.
The victim died at the hospital.
Melicado was detained at Tapaz Municipal Police Station after he voluntarily surrendered.
