From attacker to victim.
A farmer was injured after he was hacked by the man he tried to assault shortly after midnight of March 19, 2021 in San Dionisio, Iloilo.
Police said Joven Malinao, a resident of Barangay Bagacay, San Dionisio, suffered several hack wounds following a fracas at around 12:30 a.m. Friday.
Captain Rene del Castillo, San Dionisio police chief, said Malinao was allegedly drunk when he stormed the house of his neighbor Elmer Villanueva.
Malinao accused the 37-year-old Villanueva of having a hand in the disappearance of his backyard-grown broilers.
Malinao shouted in front of Villanueva’s house until the latter’s wife came out. They figured in a verbal tussle until the husband went out.
The two argued until Malinao, who was holding a bolo, tried to attack Villanueva.
But Villanueva parried the attack and managed to seize the bolo which he used on Malinao.
Malinao was taken to Jesus Colmenares District Hospital in Balasan town and was later transferred to a hospital in Iloilo City.
Del Castillo voluntarily surrendered to the police station after the incident.
