BACOLOD City – Police are exploring all possible angles to establish the motive behind the killing of a 48-year-old man who was shot four days after he was released from jail in Barangay Lo-ok, Calatrava, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
Police identified the victim as Benjur Libre Sr. of Barangay Suba.
Police Major Ronald Santillan, town police chief, said that two unidentified persons on board a motorcycle tailed Libre until they were able to reach the crime scene.
Santillan said the victim was about to park his motorcycle when one of the two perpetrators arrived and shot him from behind.
The victim succumbed to a lone gunshot wound in the head, according to Santillan.
Santillan said Libre posted bail for his frustrated murder case on February 2.
He said that investigation is ongoing, but they do not discount the possibility that the gun attack may have something to do with his case.
