A man was found dead in the middle of a rice field in Dumangas, Iloilo, on the afternoon of April 21.
The body of 37-year-old Elmer bore multiple stab and gunshot wounds.
The victim’s father, Eliseo, discovered Elmer’s body lying on the ground at a farm in Barangay Bolilao at around 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Senior Master Sgt. Efren Gonzaga Jr., Dumangas PNP investigator, said the victim sustained possible gunshot injuries on both legs, buttocks, under his eye, and mouth.
There was also an apparent stab wound on his right arm.
Elmer, who was temporarily staying in Barangay Lagubang, Barotac Nuevo, was last seen alive at 4 a.m. Tuesday after he brought the e-bike key to his father in Barangay Bolilao.
He immediately left on board a tricycle after handing over the key.
Eliseo said he heard what appeared to be gunfire shortly after his son left.
But he did not give it much thought.
As this developed, Gonzaga said they already have a person of interest in the killing.
A month ago, the person of interest allegedly called out Eliseo while the latter was driving his e-bike.
This irked Elmer, who confronted the man until he allegedly punched him.
The man then threatened Elmer with a knife.
“So far, his family could not think of any other reason why someone would have wanted Elmer dead,” Gonzaga said.
But police investigators are still looking for possible witnesses to corroborate their theory.
