BACOLOD City – A man was found dead in a 20-feet deep manhole at Barangay Banago here Tuesday morning.
Police Major Ruel Culanag, head of Police Station 3, identified the fatality as Dennis Yanguer, 35, of the said village.
Culanag said Yanguer was last seen alive by his family on Sept 1 while drinking liquor with some of his friends.
His family did not file a missing person report with the police because he always disappeared for days every time he was drunk, Culanag said.
The victim was discovered two days later, when some residents started to smell foul odor from a manhole.
It took more than an hour for rescuers to get his body out of the manhole.
Culanag said Yanguer’s body will undergo autopsy to determine his injuries and to check for signs of foul play. But his family claimed that the victim never had enemies.
The family suspected that the victim, who was drunk, probably fell inside the manhole while walking home, Culanag said.
