BACOLOD City – A body of a man who was believed to have drowned was found at Himogaan river in Barangay Maquiling, Sagay City, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
Police identified the victim as Rogelio Villanueva, 71.
According to the police, the victim went fishing that day at Barangay Colonia Divina, but due to the strong river current brought by the recent typhoon, he probably drowned and was swept to the Himogaan river.
Two persons who went fishing that day saw the victim’s body floating in the river prompting them to seek assistance from barangay watchmen.
Police said there was no indication of foul play or that the victim struggled.
