ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A man was found dead Wednesday morning floating in a river in Barangay Pangpang Sur, Mambusao, Capiz.
The body was discovered around 8:50 a.m. by a resident identified only as alias “Winnie,” who said he was about to bathe in the river when he spotted the victim.
Police identified the victim as alias “Jimmy,” a resident of Barangay Maralag, also in Mambusao.
An investigation by the Mambusao police station indicated that the victim was last seen on the afternoon of April 14 fishing in the river, reportedly using electricity — a method locally known as electrofishing.
A sibling of the victim told police that alias “Jimmy” suffered from hypertension and may have lost consciousness while fishing.
The motorcycle the victim had been using was found parked about 300 meters from where his body was recovered.
Police are continuing to investigate to determine the exact cause of death.
