BACOLOD CITY — Police are investigating the possibility that a man found dead under a tree beside a highway in Barangay Tangub on Wednesday may have died from electrocution.
Police Capt. Greeky Cayao, head of Police Station 8, said the victim had visible burn injuries on his right hand, indicating potential electrocution.
Cayao said the man was reportedly seen pulling wires in the area late in the morning, before his body was discovered in the afternoon.
During the investigation, police found a tooter and a sachet of suspected shabu inside the victim’s pouch.
Authorities ruled out foul play, citing the absence of other physical injuries on the body.
Cayao said the man previously worked as a hospital maintenance staff and had no known record of illegal activity.
Police are awaiting the decision of the victim’s family on whether to proceed with an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
