A crab fisherman discovered the body at about 8 a.m. while heading to a nearby creek.
Capt. Michael Tuburan of Iloilo City Police Station 6 said the victim had wounds on his head and body.
The crab fisherman told another fisherman about what he saw.
The second fisherman reported the incident to police.
As of press time, Tuburan said a family from Janiuay, Iloilo, had gone to ICPS 6 to check whether the body was that of their missing relative.

A bloodstained tree branch was found near the body.
Police also found a pair of slippers under a monkeypod tree.
Tuburan said there were blood droplets about 10 meters from where the body was found.
Tuburan said the man may have been killed in the area.
As of press time, Tuburan said police had not identified any witnesses who could shed light on what happened.
