Man faces homicide raps for stabbing drinking buddy

ILOILO CITY — A tricycle driver was charged with homicide after he allegedly stabbed his friend on the evening of Aug. 25 in Passi City, Iloilo.
Alias Iko, 30, of Barangay Salngan, Passi City, allegedly killed alias Rico, 47, a resident of Barangay Agtabo, Passi City, during a drinking session in Barangay Salngan.
Reports said the two were friends and had no prior conflict.
During their drinking session, they allegedly quarreled over a petty matter, prompting Rico to strike Iko with a stainless-steel pitcher.
This allegedly angered the suspect, who pulled out a knife and repeatedly stabbed the victim in different parts of his body.
The suspect fled aboard a tricycle heading toward Passi City proper.
Police Lt. Col. German Magbanua, Passi City police chief, said authorities immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation.
Members of the Passi City SWAT team arrested the suspect at 5:24 p.m. Aug. 26 in a mountainous portion of Barangay Salngan.
He was charged with homicide on Thursday morning.
