ROXAS CITY, Capiz— A resident of Sapian, Capiz is facing charges for berating and punching a police officer Saturday evening.
Charges for direct assault upon a person in authority will be filed against Antonio Baloloy, 51, of Brgy. Damayan Sapian, Capiz.
The charges were filed by Police Master Sergeant Wilmer Peral on Monday, May 18, before the Provincial Prosecutors Office here.
A member of Sapian Municipal Police Station, Peral was one of the police officers assigned at a border control checkpoint in Brgy. Damayan when Geraldine dela Cruz and her minor child sought police assistance after Baloloy tried to hack them with a bolo.
Peral responded but instead of heeding the police, Baloloy fought back and punched the cop.
Not contented, Baloloy berated the police officer.
Baloloy was subdued and arrested by responding barangay peace officers.
The suspect is presently detained at the Sapian police station.
