Man electrocuted while fixing church’s roof

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A man died from electrocution Wednesday noon while fixing a church at Sitio Luyo in Barangay Culasi here.
The police identified the victim as Cleofe Cervantes, 56, of Culasi.
According to Cervantes’s wife, her husband was asked to fix the roof of the local Catholic Church. She said that she reminded her husband to be careful because of the live electrical wire in the rooftop.
Few minutes later, the wife saw her husband get electrocuted after touching the live wire.
Residents immediately sought assistance from authorities. Personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection–Roxas City Fire Station were first to respond.
According to Chief Inspector Rowel Limjuco, city fire marshall, they saw the victim lying on the rooftop. They noticed injuries and burns on the victim’s breast.
Limjuco said that they tried to revive the victim but to no avail.
The victim was brought to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
