BACOLOD City – A man drowned in a resort in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental last Saturday.
Commander Joe Luviz Mercurio newly designated commander of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) – northern Negros Occidental, identified the victim as John Louie Espida of Bacolod City.
Mercurio said Espida was found floating near a motor banca. The resort’s lifeguard was the first to respond, he added.
Mercurio said Espida went to the resort to attend a gathering with friends when he drowned as he reportedly doesn’t know how to swim.
He was also allegedly drunk when he drowned, Mercurio said.
Espida was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
