ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 30-year-old man died from drowning while fishing in a rice field Sunday evening at Barangay Balucuan in Dao, Capiz.
Police identified the victim as Felimon Esteban who was declared dead on arrival at Sen. Gerry Roxas Memorial District Hospital in Dao town.
Investigation by the Dao Municipal Police Station indicated that the victim was on board his boat to harvest fish from his fishing nets placed on the overflow portion of the rice fields when the boat accidentally capsized.
The victim was seen floating in the overflow by some bystanders and was rushed to the hospital.
Esteban was believed to be drunk at the time of the accident.
