Man drowns during family excursion for mom’s birthday

A 34-year-old man drowned to death while on a family outing in Dumangas, Iloilo afternoon of May 15, 2022.

Kevin Pastrana, a resident of Barangay M.H del Pilar, Jaro, Iloilo City died on the day they celebrated his mother’s birthday.

Pastrana and some family members went on a swimming party at Villa Rosario Beach Resort at Sitio Naluoyan, in Barangay Sapao, Dumangas.

Staff Sergeant Efren Gonzaga Jr., Dumangas police investigator, said Pastrana drank liquor prior to taking a dip at the beach around 3 p.m. Sunday.

Shortly later, Pastrana’s companions saw him floating not far from the shoreline. He was rushed to Ramon Duremdes District Hospital in Dumangas town where he was declared dead on arrival.

Gonzaga said Pastrana is the third person who died in the same resort this year.
