A young man died after falling from a moving truck on the afternoon of July 23 in San Miguel, Iloilo.
Alias Christian, 22, a truck helper from Barangay Ulay-Hinablan, Alimodian town, was sitting atop a pile of bamboo poles loaded onto a Mitsubishi truck when the accident occurred.
Due to a downpour, the bamboo poles became slippery, causing him to slide, fall from the truck, and roll onto the road.
Police reports said the victim sustained head injuries and abrasions on various parts of his body.
Members of the San Miguel Emergency Response Team (SMERT) rushed him to Aleosan District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Senior Master Sergeant Art Arturo, San Miguel traffic investigator, said the victim was with the driver and two other helpers at the time.
Another helper was sitting beside him on the bamboo poles when he slipped and fell to the ground.
Christian and his companions had come from Alimodian and were en route to deliver the bamboo poles to Barotac Nuevo when the accident happened.
