Man dead, pal injured in road collision

BACOLOD City – A motorcycle rider died while his companion was seriously wounded after they collided with a truck loaded with sugarcane at Purok Masinadyahon, Barangay Lag-asan, Bago City, Negros Occidental yesterday.
Police identified the fatality as Sanny Salcedo, 24, of Barangay Mabini, Valladolid.
Wounded was Alexander Arnaiz, 18, of Barangay Mabini, Valladolid.
Police Captain Ronald Santillan, deputy police chief of Bago City Police Station, said the motorcycle hit the rear part of the truck.
Santillan said the alleged speeding motorcycle failed to slow down while approaching the intersection area around 3:30 a.m.
“Sige-sige lang sila diretso asta nalambot nila ang likod sang truck,” he added.
Santillan said the 42-year-old truck driver surrendered to the police and is detained at the police station.
Santillan said that Arnaiz will be referred to a hospital here due to serious injuries.
