ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 20-year-old man was killed after he was hit by bamboo loaded on a truck on May 14, 2021 in front of the barangay hall of Brgy. Ondoy in Ivisan, Capiz.
Police identified the victim as Rodel Oliveros Caputero of Sitio Agpilipis in said barangay.
Investigation by the Ivisan Municipal Police Station indicated that Caputero was on his way to Ivisan town proper to report for work as a restaurant helper when he lost control of his motorcycle and hit the rear of the truck loaded with bamboo.
The victim was skewered by the bamboo on his waist and other parts of the body.
The Ivisan Rescue Unit responded and he was immediately taken to Capiz Doctor Hospital where he died hours after.
Truck driver Ian Dumol Venus, 29, of Brgy. Maindang, Cuartero, Capiz voluntarily surrendered to Ivisan police after the incident.
The driver was released from police custody after Caputero’s mother signed an Affidavit of Non-Interest to file charges after the former promised to shoulder all the expenses including the burial.
