ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A man was arrested by the police for collecting bets for illegal gambling Monday morning here.
Members of the Criminal Investigation and Detections Group (CIDG) in Capiz led by Police Major Chris Arthemius Devaras collared Marlon Brodeth Lobaton Sr. while collecting bets for Small Town Lottery (STL) – bookies, also known as Pick 3.
Devaras said they placed Lobaton under surveillance for a week before arresting him.
Recovered from the suspect were gambling paraphernalia and bet money.
Charges for violation of Presidential Decree No. 1602 as amended by Republic Act 9287 (Anti-Illegal Gambling Law) will be filed against the suspect who is presently detained at the lock up cell of CIDG-Capiz.
STL operations in Capiz ceased recently on order of President Rodrigo Duterte. Although the order was lifted, the authorized agent corporation did not resume operations.
