A 31-year-old man voluntarily went with police after killing his cousin evening of Jan. 6 at Ajuy, Iloilo.
Rey-Ann was still at their house in Sitio Pitogo, Barangay Pili, Ajuy when police responded after he hacked his cousin Edgar, 35.
Lieutenant Randy Lambungan, Ajuy police chief, said the incident happened around 8:50 p.m. Saturday after a drunk Edgar was allegedly assaulting his wife.
Rey-Ann allegedly asked the victim to stop the physical abuse. He then turned his back on the couple.
But shortly later, he heard Edgar’s wife asking for help, Rey-Ann went back but Edgar quickly attacked him with a piece of wood.
On his second attempt, it was believed that the victim lost his balance and fell to the pavement.
Rey-Ann then quickly drew his bolo and hacked the victim’s neck three times.
The suspect immediately left the crime scene and was arrested at his house.
Lambungan said police would file a murder case against Edgar.
