Man arrested over unlicensed gun in Roxas City

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Police arrested a 23-year-old man Monday afternoon, July 20, for allegedly possessing an unlicensed firearm in Sitio Pagutok, Barangay Cagay.

Police identified the suspect only as alias “Rafael,” a resident of the area.

Officers recovered a Smith & Wesson .22-caliber revolver loaded with two rounds of live ammunition from the suspect.

The Capiz Provincial Intelligence Unit and the Roxas City Police Station conducted the operation.

Police Lt. Jessie Lemana Jr., team leader of the Provincial Intelligence Unit, and Police Lt. Col. Rogelio Tomagtang Jr. of the Roxas City Police Station led the operating teams.

Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Lorencito Diaz of Branch 17 in Roxas City issued the search warrant on July 16, 2026.

Police said they had received information from a concerned citizen that the suspect regularly carried a firearm, causing alarm among residents.

The suspect remained in the custody of the Roxas City Police Station.

Police said they would file a complaint against him for violating Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
