Man arrested over illegal drugs, firearm in Sigma

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A 40-year-old man was arrested Sunday afternoon, Aug. 23, for allegedly possessing an unlicensed firearm and suspected shabu in Purok 3, Barangay Acbo, Sigma, Capiz.
Police identified the suspect as alias “John,” 40, a resident of Barangay Amaga in the same town.
Police said the Sigma Municipal Police Station received information from a concerned citizen about an allegedly intoxicated person carrying a firearm while walking in the village.
Police immediately responded and allegedly caught the suspect carrying a firearm.
Recovered from the suspect was a 12-gauge shotgun loaded with two live rounds of ammunition.
The suspect failed to present documents showing that he could legally possess the firearm.
When operatives searched him, they allegedly recovered four sachets of suspected shabu.
The suspect is in the custody of the Sigma Municipal Police Station while charges for alleged violations of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against him.
