Man arrested for allegedly selling intimate videos online

ILOILO CITY — A 29-year-old man was arrested for allegedly recording his sexual encounters with young women, most of whom police said were minors, and selling the videos to adult websites.

Alias Ed was arrested at his rented boarding house in Mandurriao, Iloilo City, on the afternoon of July 28.

The Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 6 implemented a cyber warrant to search, seize, and examine the suspect’s computer data.

Police Col. Richard Adonis Habawel, RACU-6 regional director, said a court issued the warrant in connection with alleged violations of Republic Act 11930, or the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials Act.

During a search of the suspect’s mobile phone, police found several videos allegedly showing him in intimate encounters with young women.

Habawel said the suspect allegedly searched for potential victims on social media.

Police said he befriended the girls and gained their trust before inviting them to meet him.

The suspect would then allegedly engage in sexual activity with them.

He allegedly told the young women that he would record their intimate encounters for personal use.

Without their knowledge or consent, however, the suspect allegedly sold the videos to adult websites, police said.

Habawel said one of the alleged victims went to RACU-6 to file a complaint against the suspect.

“Based on what we’ve gathered so far, there could be several others who were victimized by the suspect’s modus operandi,” he added.

Aside from possible violations of Republic Act 11930, police said the suspect could face additional charges if other alleged victims come forward and investigators establish that they were minors when the incidents occurred.
