Man Arrested After Accident Reveals PHP 476K Shabu

BACOLOD CITY – A motorcycle accident led to the arrest of a 38-year-old man after police discovered PHP 476,000 worth of suspected shabu at Kilometer Trese y Media, Barangay Taloc, Bago City, Negros Occidental, last Sunday.

According to a police report, a traffic investigator responding to the accident noticed sachets of suspected shabu, weighing 70 grams, scattered on the road.

The suspect, identified only as “Bert” from Himamaylan City, was arrested for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Police recovered a broken improvised tooter and PHP 1,580 in cash from the suspect, who was tagged as a street-level individual.

In Bacolod City, a 42-year-old man, identified as “Juanito” from La Carlota City, was arrested at Police Station 6 in Barangay Taculing on the same day.

The suspect, described as a newly identified individual, accidentally exposed a sachet of suspected shabu while presenting his identification to police.

Juanito had gone to the station to report a commotion involving several individuals on Lopez Jaena Street near the South Ceres Terminal.

In Victorias City, a buy-bust operation in Barangay 6 resulted in the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of 45 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP 306,000.

Authorities also confiscated PHP 192 in cash, two lighters, two improvised tooters, three aluminum foils, additional drug paraphernalia, and PHP 500 in marked money.

COMELEC GUN BAN VIOLATION

A 24-year-old man became the first violator of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, in relation to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban.

The man, identified as “Archie” from Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, was spotted carrying a firearm in plain view on Luzuriaga Street, Barangay 28, shortly before midnight on Sunday.

Police seized an improvised firearm, locally known as a “pogakhang,” loaded with live ammunition for a 20-gauge shotgun.

The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) reminded the public about the strict enforcement of the Comelec gun ban and encouraged citizens to report any suspicious activities or individuals.

The BCPO reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and order in the city.
