One of the suspects who allegedly robbed two collectors of a lending company and carted their motorcycle was arrested early morning of May 26, 2021 in Banate, Iloilo.
Members of Banate Police Station nabbed Ramil Arante, 42, at his house in Barangay Bariga, Banate.
Arantte is the subject of an arrest warrant for robbery (Par. 5, Article 294 in relation to Article 295 of the Revised Penal Code) and violation of Section 14 of Republic Act 6539 (Anti-Carnapping Act of 1972) in Criminal Case Nos. 2020-9603 and 2020-9604, respectively.
Judge Oscar Leo Billena of the Regional Trial Court Branch 66 in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo issued the arrest warrant on Oct. 27, 2020.
The court recommended a P400,000 bond for all the cases filed against Arante and his two co-accused.
Arante, together with his two companions, allegedly robbed two collectors of a lending firm at Barangay De La Paz, Banate, Iloilo on July 25, 2012,
Armed with handguns, the suspects took the victims’ P28,000 cash and their motorcycle.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, Western Visayas police chief, lauded the Banate PNP for Arante’s arrest.
“Even if we are still on our fight against COVID-19, asahan po ninyo na ang inyong kapulisan ay hindi titigil at lalo pa nating paiigtingin ang ating kampanya laban sa mga wanted persons,” he said.
