Mambusao worker nabbed for gambling, bullets

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A casual employee of the Mambusao municipal government was arrested for illegal gambling in nearby Sigma, Capiz, on Monday afternoon, June 1.
Police identified the suspect only as alias Rene, of legal age and a resident of Mambusao.
The suspect was allegedly caught playing tong-its during an entrapment operation conducted by the Sigma Municipal Police Station at Sitio Proper, Barangay Tawog, Sigma, around 5 p.m.
Recovered from the suspect were a brown sling bag, a PHP 50 bill used in the operation, two pieces of paper with written numbers, two ballpens, playing cards, PHP 823.25 in cash, a motorcycle key, and three live rounds of ammunition for a 9 mm pistol.
The suspect is under the custody of the Sigma Municipal Police Station.
Charges are being prepared against him for alleged violation of Presidential Decree 1602, as amended by Republic Act 9287, which penalizes illegal gambling, and Section 28 of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
