BACOLOD CITY – Finally, after 60 years, the Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary in Murcia, owned and managed by the provincial government of Negros Occidental, has obtained its land title.
Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Alberto Nellas told reporters on Friday that the title, a special patent from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), would be turned over to Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson today, Monday, July 15, 2024.
The ceremony will be held at the Capitol Social Hall, he added.
“Finally, under the term of Governor Lacson, Mambukal received its title after 60 years,” Nellas stressed.
He said the area occupied by the Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary spans approximately 24 hectares.
Nellas further stated that “the area was declared a town site, and finally, it is now under the name of the provincial government of Negros Occidental.”
“It’s a special patent from the DENR,” he added.
Nellas mentioned that the provincial government acquired an additional 11 hectares for P9 million to consolidate the entire property and for environmental protection.
