BACOLOD City – Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, head of the city Inter-Agency Task Force against the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19, confirmed Thursday that President Rodrigo Duterte approved the appeal of the city government to extend the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) to contain the spread of the disease.
Familiaran said Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque confirmed the approval of the ECQ extension until May 15, 2020.
Bacolod City was not included in the recommendation of the national IATF to extend the ECQ and was supposed to revert to the more “relaxed” General Community Quarantine (GCQ) starting today, May 1.
Earlier, Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Rep. Greg Gasataya joined the Sangguniang Panlungsod in appealing for the ECQ extension.
The SP had unanimously approved a resolution also calling for the extension.
