BACOLOD City Mayor Joselito Malabor of Isabela, Negros Occcidental has formally filed on May 20, 2019 a petition for recount before the La Carlota City Regional Trial Court as he questioned the results of the May 13, 2019 elections in their town.
Dr. Irene Consunji Montilla won by 48 votes over Malabor.
According to Malabor, he wants to clear the allegations of double transmission of votes in the SD cards.
He also stated that aside from the problematic SD cards, he is also suspicious as to why even though the counting was not yet over, the local election officials allegedly rushed the proclamation of Montilla.
Based on the election returns, the incumbent got 13,892 votes compared to Montillas 13,844.
Malabor, then the vice mayor in 2017, assumed the mayors office after his predecessor and Irenes husband, Enrique Montilla III, passed away.
