BACOLOD City Mayor Joselito Y. Malabor of Isabela, Negros Occ has filed his election protest before the Regional Trial Court at the Hall of Justice in Bacolod City.
Malabor was assisted by his legal counsel Max S. Ortiz.
Ortiz confirmed to the media that they filed the protest with the Regional Trial Court in La Carlota City.
But they were told of Supreme Court Administrative Order 07-2019 that designated certain courts to handle election-related cases.
Ortiz said that with the filing of the protest, the court is required to complete the recount process in 30 days.
Malabor got 13,844 votes while Mayor-elect Irene Montilla got 13,892, or a margin of 48 votes.
Montilla said she welcomes Malabors move.
