BACOLOD City – Former Isabela Mayor Joselito Malabor today, Nov. 8 2019 said that his appeal for his election protest is already with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) central office.
Malabor appealed the recent decision of the court after a recount here affirmed the result of the May 13, 2019 election declaring Dra. Irene Montilla as the winner of the mayoralty race in Isabela town.
The recount reduced the lead of Montilla from 48 votes to 22.
Malabor said that he is hoping for a favorable decision from Comelec.
He also said that in the recount result, at least 200 votes were not counted in his favor.
Malabor said the mere fact that the voter shaded the circle in his name even by a mere 5 or 10 percent indicated the intention of the voter to choose him.
“Not counting the vote is like depriving the voter of his right to vote,” Malabor said.
