ROXAS CITY, Capiz Majority of mayors who won in the May 13, 2019 midterm elections belong to the National Unity Party (NUP) led by reelected Capiz second district Rep. Fredenil Castro.
The NUP mayors are Tito Mayo of Cuartero, Toto Ernie Escutin of Dao; Odoy Castro of Dumalag; Dodoy Arancillo of Dumarao; Ipe Yap of Ivisan; Mac Valdemar of Jamindan; Jun Labao of Mambusao, and Ike Biñas of Sapian.
Only five mayors who ran under the Liberal Party (LP) were victorious, based on records of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) here.
They are re-elected Mayors Christoper Andaya of Sigma, Dodoy Evan Contreras of Pontevedra, Barredo of Panay, and newly elected Mayor Raymond “Mon-Mon” Malapajo of Maayon, and Ronnie Dadivas of Roxas City.
Two independent candidates for mayor were elected Kit Dequina Belo of Panit-an and Arnold Perez of Pilar.
Recileste Escolin of Pres. Roxas ran under the Nationalist Peoples Coalition (NPC), while Roberto Nonong Palomar of Tapaz is the only candidate of the ruling PDP-Laban.
