Magramo ready for title clash with Nakatani in August

Finally, the Giemel Magramo-Junto Nakatani bout will go down after being postponed thrice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

First set on April 14, then moved to June 6, and rescheduled to July 4, the Filipino slugger’s camp lost hope on the mega bout but the Japan Boxing Commission released a statement that they will book August 1, 2020 as the date for the fight.

Magramo and Nakatani will be vying for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) flyweight title which will be held at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

According to Liza Elorde, Magramo’s manager, he never seemed unfazed despite the delay of the fight but instead, kept on his focus and continued training harder.

“He’s determined and primed for a title shot. He’s always ready as he trains daily at the Elorde Sports Center which is walking distance from his home at Fourth Estate,” said Elorde.

Magramo, who’s been tagged as one of the hardest-hitting flyweights courtesy of his 24 wins – 20 of which came by knockout, will be facing an undefeated Nakatani with a record of 20 wins, no loss, 15 knockouts.

“Magramo has a different style and wields power. It’s an even fight. We will find out who is better in the ring. Hopefully, he’ll be victorious,” added Elorde.
