Rising star Filipino boxer Giemel Magramo will have to wait as his bout against Junto Nakatani has been moved to a later schedule.
It was earlier reported that their clash for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) flyweight title was to be held August 1, only for organizers of the fight to re-announce that it will be postponed to August 21, 2020.
With the new schedule, it was also confirmed that the PH slugger will be squaring off with his Japanese opponent in unfamiliar territory as the bout will be set in the famous Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
Originally slated on July 4, the bout was postponed thrice after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Magramo has been training tirelessly since April 4, with his camp assuring they are more than ready for a clash with the prized Japanese boxer.
Magramo, 24-1 with 20 wins by knockout, will try to crack Nakatani’s perfect record of 20-0 with 15 wins via way of knockout and will try to be the first Filipino to win a world title amid the ongoing pandemic.
