MAMBUSAO, Capiz—A 35-year-old mother and her six-year-old son died after they were hit by lightning Sunday at Sitio Agcagay in Barangay Bunga, Mambusao, Capiz.
Police identified the victims as Rochel Ledesma, 35, and her son Boy.
Based on the investigation by the Mambusao Municipal Police, the victims were found dead by their relatives inside their room.
Police report said the mother went to the comfort room to cover the mirror after a heavy downpour when lightning occurred around 11 pm.
While the two were lying on their bed, lightning struck again which caused a black out in the victims’ house.
The concerned neighbors checked the Ledesmas after noticing the lightning bolt hit the house only to discover the two already unresponsive.
They were taken to the Mambusao District Hospital but were declared dead on arrival.
