BACOLOD City – A road accident at Circumferential Road, Barangay Villamonte here claimed the life of a mother and injured her daughter early Thursday.
Police identified the fatality as Elmera Agravio, 50, of the said village, while the name of her 10-year-old daughter was withheld.
Police Lieutenant Greeky Cayao, deputy station commander of Police Station 4, said the incident happened while Agravio was driving an e-bike on her way to a market with her daughter.
A Mitsubishi Mirage driven by a 25-year-old woman of Barangay Tangub here reportedly hit the rear part of the e-bike.
Cayao said Agravio was thrown off from her e-bike that caused her severe injuries.
She was declared dead on arrival at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here, while her daughter is stable but still confined at the hospital.
The car driver was tailing the e-bike on her way home when the accident occurred past 2 a.m.
Cayao said the car driver will be released from police custody on Thursday night after the lapse of her 18-hour reglementary detention and an initial settlement between the two parties.
