Lumber buyer shot dead in Calatrava

BACOLOD CITY — Police are investigating the motive behind the fatal shooting of a 59-year-old lumber buyer in Barangay Dolis, Calatrava, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday.
The victim, identified as Danelson Amolo Sr., was involved in the buy-and-sell lumber business. According to the police report, Amolo was standing near his truck, supervising the hauling of lumber, when an unidentified gunman shot him multiple times.
Amolo was rushed to Calatrava Municipal Hospital by his nephew but was pronounced dead on arrival.
At the crime scene, authorities recovered six spent .45 caliber shell casings, a pair of slippers believed to belong to the suspect, and the victim’s slippers.
Police Major Wilfredo Benoman Jr., chief of the Calatrava police, said they have no leads yet on the identity of the shooter.
