BACOLOD CITY – The Land Transportation Office-Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR) recorded 370 traffic violators during its Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Undas 2026 operations from Oct. 23 to Nov. 4.
The agency issued temporary operator’s permits (TOPs) for various violations, including operating colorum vehicles, using unregistered or delinquent motor vehicles, violating Republic Act 8750 or the Seat Belts Use Act of 1999, reckless driving, driving without a valid license, and using unauthorized or fake license plates.
The agency also inspected 13,017 public utility vehicles (PUVs) during the period, with 962 found unfit or unsafe for travel and barred from operating until they met the required safety standards.
LTO-NIR officer-in-charge Regional Director Jeck Conlu emphasized that road safety goes beyond enforcement.
He stressed that keeping unsafe vehicles off the road and ensuring that drivers and transport operators comply with regulations remain essential to protecting commuters and motorists.
Although the Undas operations have concluded, the agency vowed to continue its road safety and enforcement efforts beyond the holiday period.
“Our work does not end here,” Conlu said.
The agency aims to strengthen roadside inspections, check the roadworthiness of PUVs, conduct driver fitness tests, and maintain its presence at transport terminals, seaports, and major thoroughfares across Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor.
Conlu expressed his highest appreciation to all LTO enforcers and partner agencies for their tireless dedication during the operations.
He recognized their sacrifices, discipline, and hard work in ensuring safe and orderly travel across the region.
“Thank you for your service to the public,” he said.
The agency also thanked motorists, public transport drivers, and transport cooperatives for their patience, cooperation, and commitment to following traffic rules and prioritizing passenger safety.
